Will Fukushima get worse than Chernobyl and Three Mile Island?
i mean the radioactive material from the aer will spread?

NOW are you convinced that nuclear power plants are a bad idea?
I heard about the explosion of the Fukushima nuclear plant and heard that the gas leaked (BBC said so).Do you guys know how the Japan people are doing? I feel so sorry for them :(

Is Japan returning back to normal?
There has been an explosion at the nuclear power plant, now a fear of a meltdown - pray this won't happen! I agree there Swagg!!!!

How much worse can it get?
not sure what exactly has happened there, but all the reports say that one of the reactors has melted, as far as I remember, only reactor #4 melted in Ukraine, what's happening in Japan? was that explosion we saw on TV the actual melting of one of the reactors? if yes then that in itself is a mini Hiroshima isn't it?

Is Fukushima on the same scale as Chernobyl in 1986?
i mean if there was a huge one, for instance in Uk where would be the best place to live to be a survivor, of this,?thanks for answers

could people survive a nuclear explosion?
I am worried as to what exactly will happen, will there be an evacuation? Do we all just die? Or do I not need to worry about it?

How will people here in western USA be effected by the Japanese power plant explosion?
There has been an explosion at the power station, the experts on TV are playing it down, but I am not so sure.I think the reactor itself might have melted causing a thermal explosion between coolant water and fuel material. It is not a 'nuclear explosion' but will have spread radioactive material. In fact it has just sounded more like Chernobyl still.A whole building has apparently blown up.Nuclear experts like to talk about 'emergency shutdowns', but the things can not be shut down at will, shut down is a process that takes several days of cooling. The expert on Sky was playing it all down, trying to say that nuclear power is totally safe, and that it might be a non radioactive incident or just a little radioactive gas venting off, but the entire building was annihilated, I had to sort of laugh at that, it was like something off 'Brass Eye' for its ludicrousness this now means it might be impossible to tend the other malfunctioning reactors.I think it will be less bad than Chernobyl though, that reactor was on fire for days with no plan existing to put it out.Farid, I fear it might be the worst nuclear power accident apart from Chernobyl, they are now talking about 'bad contamination'I think it is worse than three mile island, Three Mile Island was a partial melt-down followed by steam being released, this thing exploded! Ianr - I believe this plant is 40 years old, therefore possibly suffering the same design flaws as Three Mile Island.

Has a second Chernobyl just occurred at Fukushima?
I will was planning to visit Tokyo this summer for holiday, will it be safe? I heard that there was a nuclear explosion that could affect all of Japan?

Japan's nuclear reactor explodes, four injured?
I never actually heard about this before. But I was reading news on Japan and...well, it got me curious.I heard someone say it could destroy half the world.Another said it could damage the brains of the next generation and more...I'm confused. What am I supposed to be scared of, really? Pray for Japan! Pray for the world.:)

What happens after a nuclear explosion?
Hello.I am a Japanese. The nuclear plant exploded. However, neither the government nor the mass communication in Japan give detailed information.I think that I am a situation as cruel as Chernobyl. However, I feel that the government and the mass communication think optimistically. How do the people in the country other than Japan feel it?

Is the nuclear plant explosion terrible and dangerous?
Do you buy the reports that they are "scrabbling to contain" the reactor or does common sense tell you when you see the footage of the explosion that things are getting away from them and they might be downplaying what is really happening to prevent wider spread panic.I am kinda curious exactly how one goes about dousing a reactor after it has blown its containment building and reports say "portions of the core are exposed" to me that says meltdown.Tubby....i am not surprised that you would blindly swallow whatever tripe is thrown at you by your beloved government.I tend to be one who questions them this helps keep them slightly honest you on the other hand are an enabler.Tubby have you missed the footage of the containment building EXPLODING only question now is is the reactor exposed or not.some reports say portions of the core are exposed if that is the case things are in a very bad way for containing it.

DO you believe the reports from Japan?
Ive heard that a massive earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter Scale hit the eastern coast of Japan early Friday morning, triggering a tsunami that washed away cars and caused considerable damage along the coastline, according to reports.Another quake measuring 7.4 hit shortly after, causing more damage. The earthquake has been confirmed as the largest earthquake to ever hit the country and the 5th-largest on record for the world.Tremors were felt as far away as Tokyo, where several fires started resulting from structural damage.Oil refineries in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and Tokyo also caught fire in the wake of the disaster, and minor damage was caused to a coolant system at one nuclear facility. At least 900 people have been confirmed dead, with 700 injured and more confirmed missing.Airport services were terminated shortly after the quake, stranding thousands, but were restored Saturday.Train services in and around several metro areas, including Tokyo, remain down. The most devastated area is northern Japan, where the tsunami took a heavy toll on buildings and structures there.Tsunami warnings were issued for areas along the West Coast of the United States and Hawaii, but damage from the resulting wave was negligibleA huge explosion has occurred at a nuclear facility in Fukushima, according to reports.Video footage shows the blast erupting from the plant and emitting large plumes of smoke, which is believed to contain a small amount of radioactive material, moments afterward. An unknown number of employees have been injured.Citizens in the surrounding area have been urged to remain indoors, not drink the tap water, and wear wet cloths and masks while the situation is contained.I am worried about japan.Im so sorry for your relatives yuri.I wish that they are alright.P.s If any bodys house(in japan) has been destroyed they are most welcome to live at my house.
