What would happen to a functional nuclear reactor if the control rods were whether one likes it longer operational and what would happen if the the moderators stopped utilitarian?

As fuel depleted and poisons built up, the reactor would shut itself down (assuming control rods just stuck in their normal position and didn't move).If moderator stopped working, the reactor would instantly shut-down.
