Improvements to our website search

Improvements to our website search

08 March 2013

You may have noticed we've made some changes to how you search our website. This is to make it easier to find what you are looking for, and to make where you are searching clearer.

We have separated the search found at the top of each page on our website into two:

a website search, where you can search for information and guidance across our web pages

a records search, where you can search for records we hold in our collections, via Discovery, our catalogue

To find records held in other archives, you can go to our Catalogues and online records page, and use the resources found here, such as the National Register of Archives.

We've made these improvements in response to your feedback that information was difficult to find on our website. We've also carried out work to improve the way in which our pages are found by both our own website search and by external search engines, such as Google.

If you would like to contact us and give us your comments on the new website search, you can email us at webmaster@nationalarchives.gsi.gov.uk.
