Director of Technology and Preservation David Thomas to retire

David Thomas, Director of Technology and Preservation and Chief Information Officer, is modest from The National Archives next week posterior almost 40 years' service.

David joined the Public Record Office in September 1974 behind completing a PhD in History and has dedicated his manner of life to developing access to archives and knowledge of facts both in government and the muniments sector.

As well as his light of job, David has used The National Archives' records to examine geographically a range of historical topics. His earliest scrutiny interest was the life of William Shakespeare and David featured in Bill Bryson's main division Shakespeare: The World as a Stage.

Clem Brohier, Acting Chief Executive and Keeper, The National Archives, reported: 'I'd like to thank David during the term of the 40 years he has given to the progress to maturity of archives here and in the wider sector. David's contributions be delivered of proved invaluable over the years.

'On advantage of everyone at The National Archives, I would like to wish David a skilful and healthy retirement. I look zealous to reading his future works.'

David is talking from one place to another his new book Beggars, Cheats and Forgers today of the same kind with part of The National Archives' Writer of the Month succession, telling the stories of some of the greatest intrepidity tricksters and fraudsters of the gone 200 years.
